Children need healthy meals to learn. Walpole School District is providing free meals to all students under the USDA’s Child Nutrition Programs (Seamless Summer Option or Summer Food Service Program). Children enrolled in the district (or in the community) are eligible for these free meals regardless of eligibility through June 30, 2022. Even though meals are free, it is recommended that school districts still collect applications and notify households of the results.
To determine if your child qualifies you will need to complete a Free & Reduced Application for the current school year (2021/22) and submit to the School Nutrition Office, 415 Elm St., Walpole, MA 02081.
This application is available to print from the the link below or directly from our menus page and will also be sent home with each student during the first week of school.
You will be notified by email or by mail of your child's status. Only complete one application per family.
The information you give will be used to determine or prove your child's eligibility for free or reduced-priced meals. This information may also be used for other state or federally funded school benefits.
If you need an application in another language, you may call Venessa Mitsis at 774-315-5642 or download one from https://www.fns.usda.gov/school-meals/translated-applications

What is Direct Certification?
Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services identifies students who receive MA SNAP, MA TAFDC, Medicaid or is a foster child as being Direct Certified. If you are notified that your child(ren) is/are on the Direct Certification list, they are basically pre-approved for free meals and you DO NOT NEED to complete and send in an application.
How Do I Know if my child(ren) is Direct Certified?
Direct Certification letters are emailed or mailed to homes of pre-approved students.
If one student is Direct Certified, in a household are the remaining students also direct certified?
